EARN WHILE YOU LEARN

You are allowed to work for a limited number of hours per week to help support yourself while studying

EMPLOYABILITY

Many local educational providers have links with local businesses, which will help when gaining work experience and improve chances of employment once you have graduated. 

SMALLER CLASSES

Typically classes are up to 50 students for lectures and 20 for tutorials . In addition, one-to-one contact is more than you would normally experience in the UK, this increases your ability to pass with a higher marks.

This exciting two-year degree course is aimed at students who are intending to pursue a career in business management.  The degree includes 20 weeks of paid work-based learning, enabling the learner to gain an insight into the real world of commerce as well as developing a professional network.  At the end of two years students can progress onto a “top up” year, BA (Hons) Business and Management, or head straight out to employment. In 2017 100% of graduates from this programme found employment straight away, or progressed successfully onto the honours year.

This course is aimed at all those who wish to carve out a career in the computing and digital industries. The content is broad and aims to prepare the student to move onto a technical or managerial role in the these sectors.

This two year programme has a significant element of work-based learning which helps learners to develop their employment skills and professional network.  Students work for extended periods with a range of the industry’s leading employers with placements normally being paid.

The course content has been carefully put together with input from key members of local industry to ensure students are uniquely prepared to progress into employment in the wide range of local computing and digital industries.

This course is for students who wish to pursue a career in business management.  The course provides a vital stepping stone to a fast-track career in any sector of the economy. In 2017, 100% of graduates from this programme went into graduate level employment, or onto further study. The majority of students on this course will have progressed from the Foundation Degree in Business & Management.  However, we also accept applications from appropriately qualified and/or experienced applicants who may be choosing to return to study.

Studying law offers the opportunity develop a range of skills and explore many aspects of human life. It gives you the chance to sharpen your mind, strengthen your understanding and deepen your experience across the full range of humanities and social sciences.

Students not only undertake the 3 year degree course, but also come to Jersey for their final year and the opportunity of gaining valuable paid work experience during and after completing their degree. The need for well qualified and motivated graduates has never been greater now.

This two-year degree programme is designed to suit students who are interested in a career as a practicing psychologist, criminologist or a range of other related career paths, such as the police, probation service, social work, criminal lawyer and health care professional.  

The emphasis is on Psychology as a major subject, and Criminology (informed by Psychology) as a minor subject. This is reinforced with the development of vital research skills, using both quantitative and qualitative methods, to equip you with the professional and academic skills needed for a career and for further study at Honours degree and Masters level.

A work placement will give you the opportunity to contextualise your learning and experience the application of these sciences in a real world setting.

FACTS ABOUT JERSEY

Jersey sits in the Bay of St Malo – just 14 miles (or 22 km) from the French coast and 85 miles (137 km) south of the English coast. Jersey is the biggest of the Channel Islands.

Jersey is only 5 miles (8 km) long and 9 miles (14.5 km) wide and is made up of 12 parishes.

Jersey’s southerly location and sheltered position in the Bay of St Malo mean that we have a generally temperate climate that is often warmer, with more sunshine hours, than you might experience in the other British Isles. Jersey Met produce a ​Jersey weather​ forecast for the local area.

Jersey is self-governing and has it own financial and legal systems and its own courts of law. The States Assembly is made up of 49 elected members.

Jersey is a British Crown Dependency, and is defended and internationally represented by the UK government. Today, the Lieutenant-Governor of Jersey is the personal representative of Her Majesty the Queen here in the Island.

Jersey’s government also issues its own internationally-recognised driving licences and is responsible for its own vehicle registration. Jersey has its own unique number plate sequence – number plates all start with the letter J.

The Island also has its own postal and telecommunications services.

Jersey, Guernsey and the Isle of Man are part of the British Isles. England, Scotland and Wales make up Great Britain, while the United Kingdom includes Great Britain and Northern Ireland. English is the main language spoken in Jersey. Other languages include Portuguese, Polish, French and Jèrriais (the Jersey language).

Jersey is not tax-free. The public revenues of the Island are raised by income tax, by duties paid on certain goods (5% goods and services tax (GST)) and by other taxes and revenues. However, value added tax (VAT) is not charged in Jersey or the other Channel Islands.

Jersey has a Royal Court, which is equal to the UK’s Crown Court for criminal matters, and the UK’s High Court for civil matters. It also runs an administrative jurisdiction similar to that in the Divisional Court and receives statutory appeals from executive committees of the States. It exercises a supervisory and an appellate jurisdiction over the Island’s lower criminal and civil courts.
